USRowing National Championship Regattas

USRowing sanctions four national championship events each year: the USRowing Elite National Championship Regatta; the USRowing Club National Championship Regatta, the USRowing Masters National Championship Regatta, and the USRowing Youth Invitational.

• USRowing Elite National Championship Regatta

This regatta serves as the national championship event for the sport of rowing at the elite (highest level) of competition. This competition is a proving ground and showcase for future members of both the Senior National Team and Under 23 (U23) National Team, prior to their selection for competition at the world championships or Olympic Games.

• USRowing Club National Regatta

This regatta serves as the national championship event for the sport of rowing at the club, and junior levels of competition. This competition is a proving ground and showcase for future members of the Junior National Team, prior to their selection for competition at the world championships.

• USRowing Masters National Championship Regatta

Masters rowers are men and women 27 years of age and older. USRowing recently added an AA category as well for athletes ages 21-26. These athletes also can compete at masters nationals. Competitors at the masters nationals include former collegiate oarsmen and women, former Olympic and world championship medalists, and "late bloomers" -- those who began rowing as a form of recreation and fitness after college.

• USRowing Youth Invitational Championship Regatta

The regatta serves as a high school and junior club invitational championship. Several of these rowers go on to make the Junior National Team later in the summer and eventually the Senior National Team and Olympic Team.
